Break up the kit?

I am going to be selling my Rollei 35 kits along with my Canon dslr systems and move to the micro 4/3 system. Which one I am not sure yet.

Question I have is if I should sell the parts separately or bundled. For instance, I have the hard to find Rollei 35 square lens hood for the 35 and feel I might get more if sold separately.

What is the general feeling about breaking up the kits?

Selling the hoods seperately may make a few bicks more but it might be minimal. Selling a Rollei with extras like hood, filter, case, strap etc may may it more appealing and easier to sell.
Personally, I'd be quite happy to get any hood for my Rollei 35 and 35LED, can't get one anywhere.

Break it up. It doesn't have feelings. That way, someone who already has part of the kit, and wants another part, doesn't get saddled with duplicates just to get the bit they want.

Kuvvy, you can find rubber hoods on *Bay at least for T models. If my memory serves me the usual seller is "Heidi" something. I have never seen a square lens hood on a Rollei 35, not even a picture of it.

Breaking a kit up usually means you'll get more money for it than selling it as a whole.

When I split my Rollei kit up, I got more money for my Rollei 35 Ever-ready case than I did for one of the cameras.

Well 2tcreative, looks as though I may be wrong and splitting is the best way to go. If that's what you decide then think of me when parting with yoour lens hoods🙂

Splitting it up will get more $$$ especially if you have hard to find items. A lot of people expect a bargain if they buy a Kit.

I agree. You don't have a sentimental attachment to the camera, so you might as well try to get as much money as possible. Selling it in parts makes the most sense.

No, not at all. The Tessar is very free in movement as the sides of the hood do not touch the rotating focus element. I usually have it zone focused anyway so don't have to touch it alot.

However, if you try to put this on the Sonnar it is a tight fit. I don't believe they made this hood except for the Tessar. I believe the Sonnar had a collapsing rubber version.

That is why I am struggling with the hood issue. It is so rare I have no idea of its value!

Splitting will attract more bidders.
First goes camera. After 10 minutes go bits and bites. One who has won camera will bid accordingly not to miss parts of "native" kit. If anyone others will want this accessories, they will need to bid even higher.

For interchangeable system order would be camera, hoods, releases, flashes, then lenses. At least I'd try to pick up hood and then hit the lens(-es) - when all comes in one package, I don't need to to wait for several deliveries, yet it's usually cheaper to pay for one larger box instead of many smaller.

If lenses go before hoods, I could step back after bidding "enough" on lens(-es). With lens I can go out and take pictures; starting with hood just makes me wishing lens even more. Silly, I know.
