Thank you, all who fought for our freedoms, we're all doing the best to keep your sacrifice by saying "we give up, let's ban things".
I think you may be overreacting just a tad. We have very little information at this point. I'm perfectly willing to have a photo-less trip if increased security measures mean my plane won't blow up in mid-air.
I'm the last person to trust any government blindly (particularly my current government) but the fact of the matter is that when faced with a threat such as this there are certain precautions that are only logical to take. Do I think my government has abused personal liberties in the name of the "war against terrorism?" Yes. Does that necessarily mean that all security precautions are abuses of my freedoms? No. Besides, where is it written that I have an inalienable right to take pictures when I go on vacation? That's fairly low on my list of priorities, or at least below the right to vote, to due process, etc.
To change the subject slightly, I'd feel more comfortable if we could talk about cameras and photography here and avoid making blanket statements about political parties or ethnic groups.
And I'm wondering if the mention of Stalin earlier in any way invokes a corollary to Godwin's Law.
