Thanks to everyone for all the replies and especially the .gov.uk and the handling fees etc. info.
@tom.w.bm, I've only used ebay, amazon and google (inc. google 'shopping') and looked at brit shop's websites so far. I had been hoping to get the older hoya hmc versions which have been going cheap recently. Trouble is I've missed the boat at 'camera king' as far as yellow and orange go. I did get my green and yellow green from them, but I bought a tamrac stratus 6 bag which I had to return as it's padding was thin etc. and that caused me to miss out on the yellow and orange filter bargains they had at the time. Now brit shops either don't have coloured filters or they have the dearer new ones.
@lynnB, Thanks for the link. unfortunately they don't say if it's multi-coated or not, so I'd be a little reluctant to buy it.
@zuikologist, I could buy a 46mm step up ring, but then the new 49mm or 52mm lens hood would intrude even more into the viewfinder of the Ricoh 500gx that the filters are for.
@andrewmore, I know about srb photographic. I've emailed them in the past about their screw-in mono filters and they told me they are uncoated resin, so that puts me off.
@FrozenInTime, I have just been to the speedgraphic website and I've bookmarked it. Thanks.
I do prefer to buy from brit shops as that usually means the thing reaches me quicker.
