I have been a long time believer in Really Right Stuff Plates and have been using them for my cameras and lenses for over 11 years. They all fit like one of Luigi's camera cases. So when I bought the Bronica RF I immediately called RRS and ordered a new camera plate, which the salesperson said was the BP-CS. Beautiful Plate arrived, checked to see if it was the BP-CS, and then threw it into the camera bag. Last week I tried it on the camera and the plate is too long lengthwise. The Bronica RF has 2 buttons that pop down from the bottom to allow you to insert/remove the film spool. With the plate on, the button on the right can't pop down and your stuck. Called up RRS and explained the problem. Salesperson said, "Yeah, we know this happens. We redesigned the plate to be more generic to fit a lot more cameras. Got tired of stocking specific plates for the older cameras because it takes up too much inventory."
I asked if I could return the plate, but it was more than 30 days since I received it even though it hasn't been used. Salesperson talks to the owner, then says no. But they would sell me a different generic plate which is much smaller, just a small square piece called the B9. No discount.

The B9 arrives and is not adequate. Way too small for the size and heft of the Bronica RF. This time the new plate goes back before the 30 days for a refund. So now I am stuck with a $55 plate that supposedly fits the Bronica RF (NOT), the Nikon F2,F3,FM2,FM3A,FE2,FA,FG, the Nikon D40,D40X,D50, the Canon F1,F1n,A1,AE-1,AT1,T90,A2,A2E, the Pentax MX/LX,ZX5,ZX7, the Contax RX,S2,139, the Fuji 645,6x7,6x9, the Leica R4-7 series, the Olympus 1/4 series, and on and on. Whether the BP-CS really fits any of these cameras is now open to question.

I admit it's my fault for not immediately checking to see if the plate fits correctly. I just assumed since RRS had always come through with their impeccable products over the years. As for a camera plate? Called their competitor, Kirk Photo, and explained my predicament. They asked for some measurements and sent me their PZ-17 Camera Plate. Fits like one of Luigi's cases. Puuurfect. So remember, the RRS BP-CS Plates DO NOT fit the Bronica RF Body. The Kirk Photo PZ-17 Plate fits perfectly.
Sorry for the long post.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of getting RRS stuff for my Mamiya 7 and this gives me some pause.

Why not take the plate to a local machine ship and mill out a hole when you need access, making sure each is sufficient to allow your finger access to the buttons.

Another problem is that some Kirk plates are a fraction narrower than RRS plates and don't work well with the RRS lever clamps (which I like a lot). I had thought that all these "Arca-type" plates would be the same, but they're not.
