It's bigger than I expected, but that is a good thing considering how much film I'm going to be bringing over to Europe in (only!) 10 days. It comfortably fits my M2 and 50 Summicron in the padded insert, my 90 2.8 Elmarit in another insert that I made out of foam and ducktape (I neglected to order another "real" insert) and a good couple handfulls of film in the main pocket. I'm happy.

It is quite a bit stiffer than I hoped, I'll just have to break it in 😀

I wrote you awhile back acknowledging you as a young Leica user. I see that you (and your family, I assume) are coming to Europe. I have been in Italy and the Czech Republic for the past two months and have 2 1/2 months and more places to go. Where are you headed? Check my trip blog at http://www.david-keenan.com/euroblog. Bon voyage.

Eh, the "ususal" see-all trip: 3 days in England, 3 in Paris, Eurrail through Austria and Switzerland, 7 days between Venice, Florence, and Rome. It'll be fun, for sure.

try washing it a couple of times i find that helps.
803's quite small and compact the 802 is larger.

The canvas 803 breaks in pretty quick. It's a great bag, and the only gripe I have about it is the rigid plastic insert that it part of the top of the bag. It helps maintain the bags shape, but the edge cuts into my side when carrying it.

I also have the J 803 (ballistic nylon version). It's nearly the same bag with a couple of exceptions:

1. The strap is removable. (I repaced the stock Domke strap with an OPTECH Mini strap and I love it)
2. The insert is not rigid plastic, but rather some sort fo softer material. While it will loose it's shape pretty quick, I very much prefer it to the rigid plastic insert of the F 803.
3. The top handle has a leather DOMKE path sewn onto it.

I think I will cut the stiching on he top handle of my canvas 803, remove and reshape the rigid plastic insert into a kidney bean shape so it better hugs my hip and then have the stitching professionally re-done.
