BSometer?!

Stock up on film before you get to Pootville. There's only one camera shop left there and it's run by a cranky old guy who charges more than the Internet for Tri-X.

I think your maybe just a bit sensitive Joe, BS surrounds us. Its on the TV, in the press and the Internet is a perfect breeding ground for it. However this site has a lot less off it than every other forum I've been involved in.

That would be "Portriga Pops" and his Tri-X expired in 1997. Anyway, I did like they said here and got one of those newfangled fore-thirds cameras with a bunch of adapters for vintage "glass". But I could not decide what color "skin" to put on it. Maybe I'll start a poll.

Actually thinking about it ... the amount of bull**** I encounter here is generally less than when out in amongst the great unwashed.

Ninety five percent of what I've learned about photography has been a result of my involvement here and I've generally been given incredibly sound advice when I've asked any question.

My BSometer reads pretty low here sorry!

It can't get better than this! I'll sign off now.

I agree with you Keith, not much BS here but there is lots off good info and advice from very knowledgeable people.

If you want "cliquey", try the LUG! Actually, I find RFF less hostile/ negative/ more friendly, but often more trivial, than most 'net forums.

Bill

Been there, seen that, came running back here screaming :D

My BS-o-Meter readings are pretty low as well, unless you guys think I'm upping the readings by posting here:p

My reading says low BS too.

This forum is rather interesting: when someone thinks anything, like BS level around, the forum has space for them to express themselves... Life is not better after this thread, but it doesn't make this thread BS... If we could photograph threads we think are BS, we might find out with surprise after development, that they were not BS, but they were well exposed, on focus, and produced beautiful prints for some people.

Cheers,

Juan

I think that Pablito says most of it actually. Most of the dumb (to me anyway) questions that seem to repeat over and over but I just skip reading them so that it doesn't annoy.
The thing I dislike most is the opinions expressed by some on a piece of kit, who obviously either a/ haven't used it or b/ are blinded by the leica light! It happened last week when someone stated that an Ultron was way inferior to a 'cron v.4. Total b@@l@cks and will no doubt put someone off of buying a fantastic bit of kit. I wish people would offer opinion based on use and real experience rather than fantasy and maybe a need to justify that the money they spent actually delivered better results and made them a better photog by buying x brand. Through this site I've learnt a lot about RF and photography in general. I pick up pointers to a certain lens but then in the end try it for myself before offering any advice to others. rant over.

I photographed a crippled lady being helped out of her chair. I would not have captured this decisive moment without the black tape on the Leica.
