Hello anybody knows if film is easy to get in Buenos Aires Argentina and if it is expensive compared to the US.

Hi!
Fortunately it´s still easy to get.
For colour negs price goes from USD 3 ea. to USD 8/9 depending on brand and ISO.
B&W film (Ilford and Kodak) is also available and prices are almost the same as colour negs (8/9) USD).

Why don't you recall the name and address of that big photo gear shop,at downtown, that in fact are two or three shops on the same street, very close one to the other ?

I remember it as I saw the laboratory guys there using white gloves !

Hi skibeerr,

Photography and Arts in general are very much a developed industry in Buenos Aires, with lots of artists from the best. For photographers look at Flikr for one calling himself "Abre tus ojos", and tell me of 5 better ones worldwide.

But back to your original question, I think about film prices that cheap or expensive, are different concepts for the locals than for a tourist bringing Euros.

Like Barcelona, it's a city that looks incredibly good in photos, and even better through one's eyes.

Things changed a lot since you left the city in the sixties.
Of the many good photo equipment and supplies you´ve known in our teens, just a few remain today. Some like Optica Cosentino and Kinefot have survived very well and have a nice market share regarding pro and high end amateurs.
I do not remember what you mention but I still have memories of a time when there were many photolabs, much more than they are today.

Pick up a copy of FotoMundo at any of the many kiosks selling magazines. You may not read Spanish, but the ads are pretty self-explanatory. Great magazine, by the way, a lot better than the U.S. equivalents (IMO).

EDIT: I have been to BsAs many times and I have found the price of film to be about double B&H for some films, but then again B&H is about as cheap as you can get it anywhere.
