Buildings with Character

wapakoneta-storefronts-1.jpg

These buildings are in the small town of Wapakoneta, Ohio. Hometown of the first man to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong. A lot of small towns in the midwest have beautiful old commercial buildings in their downtown areas. In big cities like Fort Wayne, they've all been demolished to make way for ugly postmodern monstrosities.

Way to go, Chris! And as far as the demolition of wonderful buildings to make way for boring ones: We have that problem in St. Louis. They tore down the Western Union building here and replaced it with nothing worth looking at. And in downtown Clayton (St. Louis County) they have put up a big glass office building that has no more "architecture" than a packing crate. It's like a piece of furniture too large for the room it's in.

I love the tonality of your shot, as well as the content.
