This is a house in an older neighborhood in Peoria, Illinois, that was owned by a stoneworker named Joseph Petarde. He immigrated from Italy in the late 1800's after being trained in Paris. Supposedly he came from a family of stoneworkers in Italy that had been practicing since the middle ages.
He has sculptures all over the central illinois region, and had carved a statue of Abraham Lincoln which is now missing.
I included a link at the end to a picture of him carving the Lincoln statue.

The Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company Building. Hard to believe now, but the building in the heart of San Francisco's SOMA district sat empty for nearly six years after the 2008 financial crisis.

This is a good place to post some shots of my home city, Adelaide South Australia circa 2008 -2010 when I was newly returned from living interstate and still captivated by its architecture
