This is a house in an older neighborhood in Peoria, Illinois, that was owned by a stoneworker named Joseph Petarde. He immigrated from Italy in the late 1800's after being trained in Paris. Supposedly he came from a family of stoneworkers in Italy that had been practicing since the middle ages.

He has sculptures all over the central illinois region, and had carved a statue of Abraham Lincoln which is now missing.

I included a link at the end to a picture of him carving the Lincoln statue.
