i just got my yashica today, shipped directly from the US to Singapore.

the problem is, i've switched the ring to "B" already but the shutter does not seem to open for as long as i hold it.

could it be dead? the camera's in excellent cosmetic condition, i haven't plonked in the battery yet because i haven't gotten one yet.

do i need a battery for the "B" mode?

damn please don't tell me i need to send this thing for repair. =/

Get a battery - and you will find that It does need one to work - relax, they mostly work, There are people here who can help. I have done 3 POD repairs and they all work - great cameras enjoy It

haha thanks guys! i thought it was all mechanical so i was afraid it really wouldn't work. hmm. i have a konica C35 automatic as well and the Bulb mode doesn't work... have a battery in it.. wonder why it doesn't work..

anyway thanks again guys. :) i just got myself 4 button cells taped together, with 15 copper coins (1 cent coins from Singapore, sadly they're no longer in production) to fill up the slack. :)

And is it working???, and when are you going to take pics???

haha yes its working! shutter speeds feel appropriate. :) and the 1.7 lens in indoors kicks serious ass man. its super fast!

oh i have to install new light seals for my yashica first.... i should finish that in the next 10 mins with some foam i found in my store room. :) before finding the foam, i toyed around with the idea of bringing it to a workshop... but i rang them up and they told me it'll cost SGD$20 to get it fixed!

GREAT!!!! Happy its working - They are great cameras and have great lenses.
Really quick to use and reasonably easy to fix. Hope you enjoy it.

The B mode should work with a battery, otherwise it will only open @ 1/500 sec.

If good battery is in there, and still not work, you need to replace the POD.

good luck
