true north strong & free
up early and then off to breakfast with the boys (& girls, sometimes)

then to the post office where i spent a small fortune on shipping.
i shipped off the lens to brian, a camera bag, 2 lens hoods, a wrist strap...i think that was it.

did a little grocery shopping. now that i have to eat healthy i can't just order a pizza on the weekends anymore. so, i have started to make my own - on pita bread, with low fat cheeses and sliced tomatos and simple tomato sauce and lots of non salted seasonings.
it ain't no pepperoni pizza but after not eating anything 'nasty' for awhile it tastes pretty darn good.

and now it seems i have a bunch of private messeges and emails because some are getting concerned about the troll situation that seems to be growing here.

some are concerned that frank g is attracting an undesirable element to rff.
some are concerned that grapenuts is a troll and maybe andyk too.

my biggest concern is that if any of the above is true then please do not buy into it.

DON'T FEED THE ANIMALS is a large sign that can be found in most zoos and might be applicable here.

thankfully jorge is very supportive of how i do things here, so folks - and you know who you are - don't mess with my nice friendly forum or without warning or notice i will ban you and continue to ban you if you come back.

so, let's just all get along, ok?

I've been cooking my own pizza for some years now. Using buitoni fresh base, all the rest is up to what your mood is that day.

Please take yoru pills now for when I tell you this you and all the Italians here will put a price to my head.

My pizzas don't have tomato.

...

Nope, that's it, I really like them a lot more without using it, pretty much prefer to use double cheese instead 🙄

Then usually roasted ham, tuna and boiled egg, yes, boiled egg, gives it a very soft touch. Olives and 'anchoas' it depends on what is in the fridge. Then of course again cheese covering it, oregano and a tad of olive oil before going to the oven.

Hmmm.

I forgot to buy buitoni base today ! :bang:

Glad to hear you're doing healthy life Joe 🙂

That is not cooking your own.

How do you know I'm not Giovanni Rana ? 😀

Ok ok, cook my own ingredients using fresh buitoni base... I can't hide anything to James Bond !

My health insurance carrier takes a proactive stance on certain conditions, so they sent me to a 6 hour healthy heart course. While the dietician was handing out lists of low sodium, low fat foods, I mumbled under my breath, "You're not taking away my pizza." She said what did you say, so I repeated. She started to lecture me on the evils of pizza so I just repeated myself after another replay she retreated into "Well, just eat pizza in moderation." The rest of the class applauded.

Joe you sound like you are doing OK. Thanks for the post about the "t" word situation but it looks like you've got it covered.

As you say, no feeding. Just ignore. Good advice! 🙂

Joe,
I think I missed what actually happened to you, but I wish you great health.

Remember, in pizza, as with all things, fresh mozzerella is tastier and healthier by an order of magnitude, when compared with the hard, processed mozz. that you can buy at the regular store.

And olive oil is your friend.

For frying, olive oil has a very low smoking point, which can be a very bad thing. A trick however, is to mix in a few drops of sesame oil as the olive oil is heating up. It raises the smoking point quite a bit, and is still healthy.

I love those American recipes you see online: 'To make a delicious home made apple pie take one pie case and one can of pie filling and microwave for three minutes.'

Wonderful.

Hey!

I hardly ever use the microwave. In fact, for three years I refused to even have a microwave in my home...then I gave in and used my grandmother's crappy, 15 year old microwave to heat water and popcorn, and in the process, I likely iradiated myself fairly thoroughly.

I finally broke down and bought a decent microwave a few months ago, but I still think it's something that the antichrist might develop.

For GOOD American (and international) recipes, try saveur.com

Or do what I do; read a recipe, then adapt it to your needs by visualizing a flavor you would like.

Or, take the labels off of all the canned food in your house, mix two random cans, and microwave them.

'Joe, I think I missed what actually happened to you, but I wish you great health.'

hey - i even boil potatoes in the microwave, when reeeeally lazy or late in the night.
It works great.
Pizza i never made - i just order it from a delivery place 'pico bello', i can order until 10 in the evening. Pretty good pizza, just got more expensive lately.

If i'd try to bake pizza myself, even the trolls would not eat that.

It's been ages, but I often used to make chicken/mango sauce pizza, using fresh mangoes for the sauce. With a bit of cheese and fresh basil, it's yummy and healthy.

Joe: Salmon & pinot noir! Heart healthy, so sez my doc(s).

*burp* 🙂

Just back from church and a totally unhealthy breakfast (it's my one day a week where I go "nuts" wrt diet).. like the good little boy I am 0🙂 .. .and I'm hoping to get out there and shoot a bit today.

As for pizza... well.. I'm an old fashioned pepperoni/italian sausage/onions type of guy 🙂

Joe,
I concur with Earl... smoked salmon drizzled with honey and a nice red (I buck the trend)... Go for it 🙂

Cheers
Dave

Joe,
Keep up the good work -- great to read you're doing well (we expect nothing less from you 😀). The trolls and other unsavory elements won't find a place here because of exactly what you suggested: they don't get what satisfies them (an argument or aggression).
