buy an M8 in 2012?

It's never too late. I try to find a M8.2 for a reasonable price too. Because I love my 35Cron V4 but i tend to love the 50mm view more and more since i have my Hassi with standard-lens last year. For me, the M8 is still 'the' camera.

June 2013: I am willing to pay quite an amount of money (€1900) for a CLAed M8 with one year warrenty from a reputated german dealer to complement my film MP. So what. It is a wonderful camera and I can live with it's shortcomings. My only issue would be the lack of a fast 28mm (37mm equiv.) lens. I am going to try a vc 28/2 and see if there are any noticable problems with focus shift. Even a used M9 is financially waaay out of reach for me.
Yummy....

The 28/1.9 Ultron does not exhibit focus shift. IIRC the newer 28/2 has a slight focus shift. But I have never tested that version.

I am using the M8 each week, and I hope that it will not fail for a long time. I use it only as a B&W camera, mostly for portraits.

The CV 2/28 is one of my fav lenses on my M8.
Focus shift is, if really there, not a problem.

just used it on an outing with friends, no shift for me, really pleased with the outcome actually. i ended up getting a great deal on my M8 and honestly I am so happy to have this camera back, its not the highest-tech, but it does its job plenty well.
