Was this price from Dr. Yao? He has just quoted me £1,459 inc warranty. Seems a bit of a mark-up over £1100!

Jim Watts said:I should have said from within the E.U. of course and not "from the E.U." as we are a member even if we haven't signed up to the Euro. I am fairly sure the VAT situation is as you say, but I don't no about other taxes. We get import duty charged on goods costing over £17.50 from the Channel Islands and they are part of the U.K. ???![]()
The way it works from the channel islands is that we don't pay VAT on goods sent to mainland UK from there with a value under £17.50 and we pay the normal amount if they are over that. Which is why a big order of film from Jersey arrives in lots of small jiffy bags so that each consignment is under £17.50 and therefore VAT free. Good, isn't it?

There is no import duty or VAT to pay on goods bought within the EU and shipped (or brought back) to the UK. The Channel Islands have a special status in terms of tax and VAT (much to the annoyance of the EU Commission).

Hi
I have two Rd-1s both bought used.
One from an RFFer for USD 2100 [inc. two batteries and a 512 card] and one via evilbay [but bought outside auction] for GBP 1150 [inc four batteries and 2X 1gb cards]
No problems with either that I have found so far.......................
I alread had a full set of CV lenses from 12-90mm so all isworking out pretty well.
Have kept an R2a for shooting the 90mm and 12mm [full frame] where needed [not yet!]
Go for it, in my view its the only way to go digi, or is for me anyway!
