Buying at M9 duty free

I'm taking a trip from a UK airport soon - does anyone have any experience of buying an M9 duty free. Obviously it quite a saving over the street price.

Id be suprised if any UK airport would stock a Leica M9.

I seem to recall (much to my astonishment) that certainly when I travelled last month the Heathrow branches of Dixons had all Leica cameras in stock, including the M9.
I think it was c.£4,200 but I was at that point somewhat addled. I tried to phone them yesterday to check availability / price as I'll be travelling again soon and am tempted, but no one seemed interested in picking up the phones.:bang:

I was in Gatwick last month and indeed the Dixon branch at the airport (after security) had a couple of M9s in stock (steel grey and black)
at £4150 or thereabout. They also had one black and one silver 35/2 ASPH lenses at +- £1780, plus a few accessories, an X1 and other Leica bits and pieces. I have enquired about the M9 and the staff told me that I could buy anything from them at Duty free price and take it with me anywhere I was flying to, including the EU. But I have an M9 and a 35/2 ASPH already...

Yes Dixons 'Traveller' stock the M9. You can call to make sure they have it in stock and they will reserve it for you. As long as you travel through a UK airport within the EU you can buy the camera free of UK VAT.

All I need to do now is decide on grey or black. Canon kit nearly all gone.
