Buying Camera Gear from Accphoto

After years of using DSLRs, I recently became interested in manual film cameras. I narrowed down my choice to a Leica M6 and a lens as a starter kit after doing weeks of research on the net. This is how I got to know RangeFinderForum.com.

The biggest challenge I face now is to find a trusted seller for the above gear. Through this forum, I got to know of Accphoto and found that their prices quite reasonable. I wrote to them twice last week to get a firm quote and ask some basic info on warranty, the ordering process, etc. I still have not heard anything back from them. (In comparison I got replies within a day or two from 3 other online stores.)

Has anyone on the forum ordered any equipment from them? How was your experience? Is their response quick? Thanks.

I just realised I posted this in the wrong forum...I should have posted it in the RF General Discussion forum. My apologies...

Same here.
I asked for quotation on Elmar 50 last week, but until now, no response at all. I was thinking that perhaps my inquiry is too small, but since you have the same response from them (which is none), maybe they are not available to reply emails at this moment.

cheers,

Some time ago, I was shopping for a Leica grip and found that Anthony had one for sale at below the usual price (I believe it was US$65). I sent him an e-mail right away and he said it was for sale, but at $85.

At that price... I might as well I can order it from B&H instead. I suggested to split the difference, but he never replied. I ended up buying a used grip later from a PN member for $60, shipping included.

Leon, if you're serious about getting a Leica, try Don Chatterton. I got my first from him. There's also Ritz Collectibles in AZ, whose service is extremely personable. I got a black M6TTL body from them, which came in pristine shape and they even threw in the batteries for free.

So, there you go. If you CLICK HERE you'll go to Don's website (it's not possible to order through his site, but e-mail or fax him about a camera and he'll be quick to reply. I've found calling him is even better). Now, HERE is the website for Ritz collectibles. As I said above, their service is top notch, and they're nice on top of it!!

Good luck shopping!! :)

Thanks to all for replying with great info. I will definitely check out some of the recommended sites/shops.
