Hey guys,
I'm buying my first digitial rangefinder in the next couple of days and I am very excited. I'm also buying the Nokton 40mm lens. Does this seem like the best lens to buy as a starting lens? I'm very excited to start shooting with this camera... I've wanted a DRF as soon as I heard about them. I've honestly fallen in love with rangefinders, so you can image how excited I am to finally have one.
Anyways, any advice would be nice... and tell me what you think about the lens.
Thanks,
Brody

The general feel is that it's a great lens. But don't take my word for it. Search RFF. There have been plenty of threads about this lens (which I don't have and thus have no experience with).

Still trying to See.
I have the 40mm Nokton and it is a great lens, especially for the price, but there are reports of front/back focus issues with some examples close-up on the R-D1.
My example shows very slight back focus at 1 metre @ f1.4 thats not too much of a problem, but others have reported more. My friends example is perfect on my R-D1. It's worth checking for this problem, but you really need more than one R-D1 fit lens to check if its the R-D1 rangefinder or the collimation of the lens to the camera that's at fault if its out.
