Leica LTM Bye Bye Barnack: Oskar Portrait Series O Replica Solution

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
nice looking cameras, l wonder how many get placed in a collectors cabinet and how many get used and develop a nice patina

Mine is regularly used but now that I have shot a little over 250 rolls of film the shutter is starting to make some noise. Maybe the shutters in these cameras need more frequent cleaning because I have a couple Leica 3s that have had far more use than that and are still running smoothly.

I checked with Leica USA but they want about $800 for a CLA. Since I am truly broke I guess I'll have to figure out how to do it myself or trade a camera for the work.

I wonder if this something Youxin can work on? He doesn't list the "0" but you never know. (I'm assuming your's is the "0" replica?)

I will check in with Youxin. In case that doesn't pan out I wonder if there are any on-line resources that might be applicable to disassembling, cleaning and lubricating these older Leica cameras?

This is probably a silly question, but is the portrait medallion simply glued-over the body covering, or does the body-covering have a relieved inset so that the medallion sits flush with the surrounding surface ?

unfortunately the body covering has an inset for good ol' Oskar.

That is why the body covering needs replacement.

Its VERY simple for any pro repair tech.

Not such a brilliant idea for most over confident wanna be DAGs with 20 thumbs.

Damaging such a beautiful camera with a DIYS repair is a crime worthy of banishment to digital.

I’d like to get a portrait of Yoshihisa Maitani to stick on the back of my Sanko Shojii Pen.
Just kidding, it is perfect just the way it is.
