C-41 in Seattle

I have a few rolls of XP-2 that I want to have processed. Does anyone have a favorite place for C-41 processing in Seattle that does good work and is less expensive than Ivey?

Stan

Ballard Camera (20th NW and Market) will do a roll of 36 exposures--develop, scan and 4x6 prints--for around $22.00. I think develop and prints alone or develop and scan alone is about $17.00.

Costco will do the develop/print/scan for about $10 if I remember correctly. But with both of them there's a greater danger of scratching the negs than with Ivey.

Any drugstore with a C-41 machine can do XP2. But the prints might be tinted. Some people know how to print C41 B&W, some don't.

Thanks Peter. I'm only interested in processing without prints, since I'll be scanning the negatives myself. Bartell’s will process a roll of 36 with no prints for $2.99.

I've taken XP-2 to various 1-hour photo places in the past, but I was disappointed in the quality control - the negatives were scratched. So, what I'm really asking is if anyone has a recommendation for a 1-hour place in Seattle with good quality control that is less expensive than Ivey.

i use fred meyer's one hour in bellingham and they do good work- i many years of having them process, they've only scratched one roll.

HA!! Yes!! Ivey IS WAY overpriced. Miserable shop, too. They regularly blow the processing on my stuff. I get alot of flat negs from them. I actually can't think of any decent shops here in Seattle. I used Cameras West in Bellevue for a bit. Then Ivey. I have a friend that used Moon Photo and said that it was amazing. But I am not sure they exist anymore. Their shop is gone.

But no matter what, I am never returning to do business with Ivey.

Personally, the best service I have ever experience in quality AND speed is with The Icon in Los Angeles. Perfect negs and E-6 every time - and for about 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of Ivey. I'd ship my film down there, but I don't trust the postal service either.

Home developing is the only way to go.

Afraid to admit this, but I have had incredible luck with Walgreen's in the U district (Brooklyn and 50th). I tried them out after the umpteenth scratched result from Costco. So far, I have not found a single scratch on any roll. Plus, it is dirt cheap.

You might try Kenmore Camera. I used them for chromes and color neg's. They do most processing on site and send the other to Overlake Lab in Bellevue. I had good results and they were reasonable. It's just a bit out of the way and I shoot mostly B&W now.

Best Luck,

Bob

You might try Panda Lab. They are located on the NW corner of the Seattle Center. They have a pretty full list of services. There storefront is small and funky but that suits me. Ivey has always intimidated me with their overdone decor, at least since they moved from the old Silver Image location in Pioneer Square. I had some Tri-X processed and it came out fine. Mailing stuff in is a pain so I haven't used them again but I've got a couple of rolls of color negative film I'm ready to send to them.
