I have just acquired a C3 and the shutter cocking lever points at 4 o'clock and moves to 2 o'clock when set. For cosmetic reasons I would like to set it to the correct position (10 o'clock?). Can anyone advise on how I do this? Thanks

Rick Oleson has a very nice site with drawing and notes about the C3. Some are held by a set screw, others use a jam nut. I wanted to note that some old photographers, like me, used to rotate the lever because it would often hit our fingers as it rotated which would mess up the shutter timing. So we would rotate it to the position where yours is located now.

My first real camera was a C3 my father gave me in the mid '70's. The cocking lever was in the 4/2 o'clock positions when I recieved it. I didn't realize that it was non-standard until a few years ago. Every C3 I've had since I've moved the lever to that position

my C3 arrived with the cocking lever setting at 4 o'clock and moving to 6 o'clock--where i usually lay my fingers when i hold the camera--which was annoying.
so i just unscrew the lever and reset it to the position i feel most convenience--ie. around 8/10 o'clock.
you can do what pleases you most, i think.
