Hi-I developed 3 rolls of film last night-2 at home and one roll of Reala that I had done at the WalMart (I was there!).

Unlike my other Reala pix, these looked awful-muddy colors, looked like the exposure was off in both directions, just unpleasant.

I know prints can be nasty when done wrong, but these were negs only scanned at home as usual.

Will improper handling of C41 cause the negatives to look bad?

Thanks.

Can you post an image so we can see? Can you also scan the image as a positive so we can see what the negs look like?

All I can say without seeing the negs is that you underexposed. That would account for the smokey shadows and the washed out highlights - the printing/scanning exposure would try to compensate for the thin neg density. Increase the printing/scanning exposure and the colors will be more vivid, but the image will be dark.
