I'm back from a two weeks holiday almost without internet and first time I open this thread: fabulous! Your subject, your framing, your B&W, your use of the light...you really have your own style...great!

Love the cops photos! Do they usually like to pose in the US? I thought they didn't like to be published on the internet...

Thanks Robert, glad you like the photos. I'll be posting more this weekend, or whenever I can get some scanning done.
Adso -- regarding photographing Police. In many places the law states you may photograph a public official performing their duties. Of course being polite, friendly, and in a tourist area helps a lot. So does asking when it's not interfering with what they're doing. And soldiers and special officers with automatic weapons and full gear -- well, they need to stay vigilant, so that's a no-go. So is photographing structures that might be deemed useful to bad guys. Also, for obvious reasons one doesn't want to photograph a police officer who may work undercover. All that said, with a little effort it's not too hard to get some good photos of this type. I've handed out my card on many occasions and sent the trooper, policemen, and many others files large enough to make an 8x10 from -- and they always appreciate that. But it puts a burden on one to then not screw the shot up. Oh, and pretty women and kids are always granted photo requests from police.

Bravo Dan. Your photographs are meaningful. In a time where police are being looked upon in a negative you have done good work in showing a positive side.
