what?
Very nice compositions and editing. Can't believe you shot this great stuff in 8 days !!
I agree about the on-screen lack of quality of the Blurb images. Your pictures posted here have *much* better on-screen quality. (You may have answered this issue, but I did not read all the previous comments thoroughly.)

Thanks for the thread, Dan, and the links to your books. The photos in your new book are great -- they do scream "LA" to me (I'm in NorCal). I also really appreciate that you took most of them with a Rolleiflex. Nice!!

Thanks Steve, it's hard to communicate how much desire I had to go to LA and shoot -- that's the motivation. I'm shooting more Rollei, but also experimenting with some weird digital stuff as well. Takumar lenses -- remember those!

I'll say this for your photography: I work for a newspaper which means I'm broke and probably about to be laid off. I took one look at your post re: Never Seeing Nothing and I bought it on the spot...and that's with the Canadian dollar being in the toilet compared to US money!
You get it. You see it. And especially, you put in the work. Colour* me impressed.
*that's how it's spelled up here.

Hi Colin,
I love Canada. Haven't been there in about 10 years. My wonderful friends Robert and Ginette live in Montreal.
Thank you for the nice words and getting a copy.

Toronto is a fun place to do photography and I think you'd get a lot from it. Friend of mine works there and does some cool stuff on the side too - http://mostlymonochrome.com/index.php?x=browse
I'm from further west. Not sure how you'd classify Winnipeg - maybe a downmarket hybrid of Baltimore and Detroit? But this guy is hands down my favourite shooter:

Not only do I remember Takumar lenses, Dan, I've picked some up recently, as well as some Pentax film cams to shoot with.

Still think my Never Seeing Nothing is better![]()
Dan, I bought a copy of Never Seeing Nothing. A WONDERFUL book! So many truly strong images… from beginning to end. And the book quality is excellent! I keep the book here at my desk as inspiration to keep working for that kind of quality. Thanks.

A camera dealer friend of mine used to refer to some of those Super Takumars as 'Japanese Leica glass'. I had some years ago and when I look at the photos I took with them again now, they really show what high optical quality some of them were. Very nice glass.
