Hi Folks, so I've found a way to create a camera profile for adobe lightroom. Particularly for the "IR" shooting crowd. For those of us who shoot raw IR on the epson.
But, I need some volunteers.
I need someone to send me some raw files (.ERF) shot in IR, with a filter. I will create a custom profile and preset and post it for everyone's use. My contribution to the board. Basically my custom profile will allow you to go past the 2000K WB ceiling that lightroom limits in its raw editor. You can achieve really cool false colour IR. I've already got a slew of profiles for nikon's, which I'll gladly post as well.

Hi Ivan
with filter? R72 is ok? I can provide a file but it will take a few days.
This sounds interesting to me.

no wories, no sweat, I think I can pull this off with one raw file. It'll be like making a vaccine and mass producing it
I'd volunteer myself, but the weather is pretty nasty right now. Not to mention, I just don't have an R72 filter.

Ooo, I never realized you could do IR with the R-D1. Can one of you post a quickie tutorial? What filter would I need? Does it work better with some lenses than with others?

I'll need an actual "un touched" raw file, ERF...

i think it would be awesome if someone could compile a list of lenses that would be great for IR. I know some lenses will give hotspots on the image, I've heard the CV 12mm is one that suffers from this but not the 15.
The filters, well, R72, r87 are the only ones I know, but if someone could chime in, that would be great....

Some R-D1 Infrared. R72 taped to the front of the camera. Do you still need a raw file?

Do you use B and gefühl, or are these captures under 1 sec shutter speed? The main difference between using filters and having the camera converted, in a practical sense, is the shutter speeds needed?

All are hand held taken around 1/30 to 1/60 @ 400 iso with the cv 40/1.4

Very cool, John. Really like the look you give them. What's your workflow? Do you swap channels?
I use the B+W 093 and have a heck of a time getting a good focus or any sharpness at all. Yours look great.

Yes I swap the channels. Funny, using the 40/1.4 I just focus normally and don't have any problems.

yeah, send me a raw file. If you use lightroom, this will be even better.

IR focusing problems? I suspect Autofocus sensors may have trouble with IR focusing, but RF focusing shouldn't be affected.Yes I swap the channels. Funny, using the 40/1.4 I just focus normally and don't have any problems.

IR wavelength focuses at different distance than visible light so technically you cannot use the RF focusing as well since focus will be off.

But Aspherical lenses should not have as much of an issue. Also, I did not use a tripod and my RF may need calibration. I took a few shots with the M8 and the results were much better in terms of sharpness. However, the look of the B+W 093 is quite different, much more surreal.

良かったね!
What was the upshot of this experiment? I've finally got lightroom and have been hoping to experiment with this....
