So, I currently live in Norwich, home of the camera wary potato folk. I went to Cambridge today to really test out the new G1 (which is quite frankly the nicest camera I've ever used) and I can't believe the change in attitude. Nobody stared at me because I had a camera, nobody got grumpy when I took a picture of them - in fact they all smiled, chatted, complimented the 'prettiness' of the G1 and were amazed I was still using film. One guy gave me his e-mail address and asked me to send the picture if it acme out well. The students were all friendly, although maybe that is because none of them are British? The Arch Bishop of Canterbury was there today so the press were out in hordes, I got chatting to them and we exchanged techie chat on gear, it was nice to stand next to a guy with £10,000 hanging off his neck and know I have the better glass! ;)

Then I arrived back in Norwich where I was presented with dozens of creatures so unattractive I consider it rude of them to show themselves in daylight. Men wearing full-on MC Hammer baggy illuminated bright white Kappa tracksuits dragging along what I can only assume is a female of one species or another who's decided to cover a tiny section of her middle bits in pink, glittery plastic.

I was thinking about moving, the trip to Cambridge had ALMOST made me decide to, when I saw a camera shop with no less than an M2, M3, M6 and M7 in the window. At that point I started looking at house prices...

I love spending time in Cambridge, especially the bookstores. But if I bought a house there, I think Id' have to wait quite a while before I'd be able to afford an M7 again :)
