camera and watch .......

I bought a regular Seiko diver the other day off eBay and low and behold it is accurate! It is more accurate than Rolex diver I owned for 25 years.

In general, it can be said that the accuracy of Seiko diving watches is plus or minus 20 seconds per day. This figure places them far behind Rolex watches with the COSC standard, which have an accuracy of plus or minus four to six seconds per day.
After 25 years of service, it is more than recommended to take your Rolex to a certified watchmaker, who will give it appropriate CLA treatment, which will return it to the recommended values.

I did. Every 5-7 years as recmmende by the factory.
If so, something is wrong (all assuming that your Sub, after watchmaker's care, fails to maintain at least 6 -/+ seconds per day). And maybe you should change your watch specialist.
Unless the Seiko Diver you purchased is powered by a quartz caliber, which gives it a better level of accuracy than your Rolex Submariner, and being so, essentially eliminates the mystery of the accuracy differences.
