Camera body recovering. Aki-Asahi

Hi, I just want to add how great they are. Fast cheap postage (4$), quantity discount and sometime a trial covering for you to practice on. I’m pretty sure that the people there have a good sense of humour as I ordered two Kiev RF coverings (a 2/3 and a later 4) one in black and one in brown but received four; the two expected and two in TARTAN 😂

Guess who will be walking around with a McKiev 2!

I have no connection other than being a highly satisfied, and slightly surprised customer.

Been using them for many years with satisfactory result. But sometimes the cutting can be inaccurate - in my case I had to trim the two kits I received to fit the Zeiss Ikon they were intended for.

Also it looks like they have not been actively updating supported models for quite a while. Wish they'd make one for the X100F...

Going slightly off topic.

Does anyone know of a source for full sheets of replacement leatherette?

Limited selection amongst the vendors. Ide take an eBay link if you can find one!

Haven’t orrdered from AA in a few years.

Microtools sells the same leatherette 4040 and 4056 in sheets.

Gonna keep my eyes open for something in the USA.

Prolly shoot HugoStudio another email and see if they’ll sell A4 sheets.

I thought there was microtools US as well as EU. Related but in different locations. I could be very wrong about that.

Right on! Micro-Tools USA is in Cali.

Appears the be the same stock. Ding ding we have a winner :)

So three options there for us DIYers

4056 (adhesive back)
4040 (adhesive back)
Moroccan (no adhesive)

In Japan it'll be Japan Hobby Tool which has a comprehensive selection of leatherette sheets. I think they're on ebay as well.

JHT sells on amazon as well! Nice!

A decent local option is offered by Cricut.

"Cricut Faux Leather- Pebble" on sale all over the web for around 7$ (12x24in sheet)

Nominal thickness is spot on around 0.7mm and you get twice the material for half the price of the JHT or MicroTool options.

Likely pretty easy to find at your local Joanne fabric, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and similar craft shops.

Now if the Cricut forum had some camera templates I might be tempted to buy one of their cutters lol.
