Now, I spent some time at B&H looking but did not find the strap system I was looking for. In the old days, someone made a harness which would hold the camera against the chest during strenuous activity and keep the camera from bouncing around. It consisted of a neck strap and a neoprene strap that went around the chest horizonally with the lens going in a hole in the neoprene thus being held against the chest.
I will be doing a lot of horseback riding this year and having a camera bang agaist you at a cantor is no fun. I use a M leica so want to keep the harness small and light. I saw a few at B&H which would work but they were designed for a big dslr.
Any help would be appreciated.

Check OP/Tech USA. I think they do one as part of their strap system. I have various bits of the system and am very pleased with them.

Yep, S.A. is right. It is the OpTech stabilizer strap:

Just a thought: can you think of a way to attach velcro strips to the body part of a camera case, with a velcro pad on your chest? That would avoid having something wrapped around your chest.
