yaya. I know your type. Just throw money at it. Dont actually know how to do anything or explain anything so, just throw it away and buy new high dollar equipment. old = garbage etc etc...ad nauseum blah blah. Its got to say Leica on it or its garbage. Ya heard it all before. If you dont know the answer and arent interested in the topic then kindly dont post. I dont come here to read your and your kinds personal and critical negative responses denigrating others who are interested in old cameras and understanding their construction and optics. Go back to the country club and have another expensive drink and look down your long nose at everyone who doesnt wrap their identity up in their epensive possessions. Kindly dont post in my threads if you have nothing useful or intelligent to say about the topic. Thanks.

Was this directed at me?

There have been a few great responses and they know that I am very appreciative and grateful for them and they know who they are. I did post follow up questions and would like to continue with those who have interest and aptitude in this subject.

If you are so worried about the tolerances on your old Signet, why do you have a zone focus Olympus XA2? Not exactly precision there...

Like a few others I was stating that you couldn't measure this fine and with a camera as valuable as the Signet 35, there is no reason to take it apart when it already works.

I've already made the mistakes long ago and wasted a few dollars learning from them. Just trying to say that it sounds like you've made up your mind to take the camera apart so go ahead and do so.

Its now clear that you don't even understand my question or the purpose of this thread. If you look in the title it says 'Experts' that means 'not you' but you posted anyway. Now we have a toxic thread. Nice. Would you please kindly leave the thread for people who are interested in the topic? Thanks. I dont go into your threads and start knocking stuff over and spilling drinks on the floor and vomiting on the furniture. So dont trash my threads thanks.

Now the cool people and the people with actual knowledge arent posting anymore and I cant say that I blame them.

Actually, no one understands the purpose of the thread. There is no purpose here.

Your camera is FINE. Go shoot it. PLEASE. :)

Yes, pretty much everyone answered intelligently. It appears that at least one is not comprehending, however.

You are the one who makes your thread/s "toxic" as I earlier stated offlist.
You are doing work for the sake of work.
Your camera works.
Either shoot it or don't.
If you take it apart to clean it, you may not have a camera that works anymore considering the complexity of the shutter and transport mechanism of fixed lens cameras with leaf shutters.
As was already stated, the distance is the lens registration.
If you can resolve an image from a 60 year old camera, that's great. If not, there isn't any need to "fix" it because the actual and opportunity cost of the exercise would be worth several times more than the camera. The only upside to this is if you want to learn about the workings of the Signet 35, then take it apart.
Goodness gracious.

I dont know if my camera is out of adjustment at all

There is no further need to discuss until you know beyond any reasonable doubt that focus is off.

Can you please do this first, before wasting any more bandwidth?

Sorry, I just ran out of troll food. No more from me.
