Camera porn of the highest order

The only real issue other than weight is just the amount of glass that is exposed ... it would make me slightly nervous

but its one sexy piece of glass ... the type that would attract women (well at least women like Steph 😉 )

I don't see why this couldn't be a walk around combo. When stopped down it's as good as any other 50 you'd have (apart from, perhaps, new Leica/Zeiss glass). I'd feel comfortable making it a walk around lens.

Yes, the thing is heavy, but I used to carry around my Nikon FE and 50/1.4. Probably not any heavier than that setup.

I wouldn't take it out day in day out, mainly due to the weight, also the combo it's not easily replaceable ($-wise).

If I had this lens I wouldn't need the Noctilux...I'd just need someone to hold the camera for me. 😛

But seriously, the lens has a look all its own and lends itself well to portraiture. I'd love to pair it with the roll of APX 25 I have to do the portrait shots of my family. It would make excellent pictures.

The fastest lens I own is my 50/1.4SSC for my T90...

Not to go too far OT, but that very combination is one of my favorites. Makes the T90 almost a "walk-around" camera, at least for low-light work. And although the "chromenose" version of the 50/1.4 isn't any better than the other kind, I treasure the weirdness of it.

One of these days the 50/1.2L will be mine.

Make sure you have interesting background for your family to stand in front off.

🙂

Been thinking about how to use this lens, no chance to use it yet...

Do a custom hood, the lens really need it.

I have been curious about that lens too. But, how much of the viewfinder window does it block? It seems like you would be guessing on about a third of the frame, and using it on a CL/CLE would be even worse.

I would say 30%.

I think you can find an online article about how much a CV 35mm f/1.2 block the finder, it acturally comparable.

The canon is wide, but it's not that long...
