My Dad has given me a his Contax 139, As I am studying photography at sixth form collage.

The camera shutter jams intermittently and I wondered if any members knew someone who could refurbish/fix the camera.

I have put in new batteries so this is not the problem.

I live In Essex and can go to London so I would be grateful if anyone could recommend someone who could get it back to working order.

Thankyou Very Much

George

There is very useful diy info on Peter's site.

The 139 isn't worth much in today's market but it's an outstanding performer.

The 139 may indeed have been a great performer,
but SLR are literally two a penny!
There are so many working cameras easily available.
Place on shelf, look for working body or another SLR with lens.

My first Contax was the 139Q. Great little camera, especially with the 50mm f/1.4 lens.

Mine died but it was after a house fire. All electronic equipment is subject to failure after a house fire. Too much acid in the smoke and therefore in the water the fire fighters use. My Contax 167mt just keeps on going (so far).

Good luck in your search a repair person. When you find on and like the work, please let us know.
