Hey Folks I just got my III (F) back from Oleg.
Perhaps some of you remember I had dropped it and the pressure plate was out of alignment.
Well not only did he fix it, he must have done a full ClA on it. It is running smooth as butter and looks amazing. As crazy as it sounds I am almost glad I dropped it, I did not realize what some hands on work from a professional could do to its functionality.
Forgive me if I seem to be going overboard but, I am blown away but the value, results and attention to detail.

You're hardly alone in praising Oleg's work. Mind you, a member said some days back that Oleg was not all that good with Kievs. I don't recall if anyone agreed.

Oleg CLA'd my IIf as well as replaced the beamsplitter mirror. It's good as new now. All hail Brother Oleg!!
And congratulations to him and Mrs. Oleg on their newborn!

Oleg CLA'd a Zorki-4 for me, and it's great! I would definitely go to him again, when CLA is needed in an FSU or Leica type R/F. Mike

Yes, Oleg is GOD(nicht), Oleg is perfection(nicht), and Oleg has a newborn child
and an apartment he got for his parents to pay off.
What happened, did somebody slam Oleg in one of the other
forums recently ? Let's move on, eh ?

One member has had problems with a consistent light leak on an Oleg cla Kiev , which Oleg has done everything he can to rectify, including offering a replacement .In stark contrast to one dealer who refuses to reply to my e-mails about an expensive black Zorki s which has a really dodgy shutter and a lense with the aperture ring out of alignment - I dare not send it back , 'cos then I have nothing .
I intend that Oleg sort it for me in ''due course '', together with my prized 1933 black Leica II - that's trusting !

Of all the people that I have dealt with , Oleg is the most helpfull and honest .
Sometimes maybe , we tend to forget what we are asking repairers to deal with - complicated cameras , not always put together properly , most pre 1960 , let
alone 1970 ... and probably neglected for most of them .
I just marvel that so many cameras can be made to work so well .

Would Oleg be the right fellow to fix my IIIG?
The film advance no longer works, tho the counter & shutterwork fine.
If so, would you please let me have his details?
Thanks.

An errent piece of film had broken off & impeded the wind on.

So any issues with mailing a valuable camera to Russia? I saw the warning on his web site to "not declare anything over $100".
How worried are you? Did you declare full value for the camera? e.g. a IIIf is worth more than $100.

My IIIf just arrived from Russia. Results: much quieter and consistent shutter sound, much smoother winding, but only slightly improved rf images. The cost (including packing materials & postage): $132.00. The camera was sent to Oleg on 5Sept07, he emailed me 26Sept07 with payment instructions & letting me know it was ready to return. It arrived today, 12Oct07. I had to sign for it, but there wasn't any duty or sales tax to pay. Would I do it again? Yes, without hesitation. The IIIf works better now than it did three years ago after a Kinderman cla that cost more than three times as much. Now to shoot a test roll...
