in a few days, i'm going to japan for several weeks. i'll be in kansai visiting relatives, going to temples, gardens, and camera shops of course!

if you want me to keep an eye out for something, leave a comment. i'm not going to proxy or anything, but i'll post photos of items you're interested in and whatever info you need to order it directly from the store.

I wish you an unforgettable trip. Enjoy sakura / hanami, okonomiyaki, ramen... and while you're in Osaka, don't forget to visit Yodobashi!

that'll have to be one of my first stops, since all the local camera shops are out of polaroid originals color sx-70 film!

I was in Kyoto last year and went to Bic and Yodobashi which were well stocked but felt rather like soulless electronic department stores. I'm sure there are good used camera stores around but i didn't find them. The one store I really wanted to see and couldn't get to was the Leica store in the Gion district. This really does seem like something else, even for Leica. Watch the video on this page

Exhibiting photographs in a camera store, what a great idea!

I did catch quite a lot of photo exhibitions associated with the Kyotographie international photography festival. A very diverse range of work. I see there is an Elliott Erwitt show this year. Wish I was going again!

Matsumoto Camera has great deals. The nice man there gave my friend a free leitz adapter to go with his M2
