every time I go to chicago I stop at central camera..... their used prices are not the best I have ever seen but Leica prices always seem higher to me than I would like...... also have a great film supply and they give a discount on most film if you have a student ID

I second Central Camera. Been going there 45 yrs. Helix is a close second.

I am afraid that Altman's has been closed for many years. But, the apothecary that was right next door is still in business. They still have that six foot apothecary jar filled with leeches in the window! That alone is worth the walk up Wabash after you visit Central Camera. BTW, Central is the third or fourth oldest, continuosly operating camera store in the US.
