Kenro Izu, Interview:
Mr. Izu talks about his portrait work and a bit about his camera (it’s a big camera).
If you’re not going to watch all 3 segments, I suggest #3. It covers his work in Bhutan.

The web is full of Adam’s work. If you need more - enter a search for: “Ansel Adams + photographer”. Drop the quotes.

Richard (he preferred “Dick”) Avedon
Over the years I had one friend, one acquaintance, and a former employer who worked for, or knew Mr. Avedon. From their stories, Avedon was extremely talented, a nice man, and a good employer. What more could you ask for in a famous photographer?

There is an Avedon exhibit currently open at the MFA (Museum of Fine Arts) in Boston. Very well done with some excellent prints - recommended if youre in the area.

He was a documentary photographer for several decades in NYC, and is now focused primarily on motion film & video projects. Currently shooting some remaining Kodachrome film stock for a project.

i saw it a couple of weeks when I was in Boston, and enjoyed it immensely. The web rarely does justice to such wonderful images!
Also, I really loved the Richard Sandler link. Those are very engaging images. Thank you.

I do think the John Stanmeye/NYT Lens Blog is the article that led to (at least partially) the creation of this thread. I'm glad I posted it! This has been a really fun thread and an excellent into to photo for me. I still really enjoy those images. I'll have to see if there is a more complete collection in print somewhere. I'd love to buy the book.
Jim Marshall is always fun to look at. Thanks for the links.
As for Shapiro, I'll have to go to a Barnes and Noble's and find a copy to take a look at.

Those Spider Award links are neat. Lots of really incredible submissions.
Two things this thread never ceases to do: Amaze me and depress me.

Ahh. And here's the book for the John Stanmeye images. I'll have to order it come December.
