Hey folks,

There are a few minor items I'd like to order from Mr Gandy but I've never ordered from him before and I'm up here in Toronto so I'd like to find out if any Canucks have ever ordered from him and what is the timing like from order placement to order fulfillment (i.e. when you have received your item)

Any personal experience is welcomed.

Thanks a ton,
Dave

I've ordered multiple items from him. His shipping to Toronto has seemed every bit as quick and professional as it would be within the States. He doesn't ship individual orders each day; my impression is he does them every few days up to a week, but that's nothing different than his usual way of shipping. I found him very easy to communicate with via e-mail.

I'm in Montreal. I ordered a lens from Stephen on a Friday afternoon. It was at my door on the following Tuesday. And I had no taxes to pay!

How did you have it shipped, Fedex Int'l?

dont use UPS use US postal service, which is how I believe he works it.

I have dealt with him twice, smooth, fast, perfect. I communicated with him email easily. I dont remember the exact speed of delivery only that it was well within my expectation.

One order was for a camera, lens and finder, so not insubstantial amount. A smaller order was handled just as quickly and smoothly.

I'm a 100 miles north of Toronto.

I've purchased several things from cameraquest and each transaction was fine. Stephen ships USPS, which is good. If I had more cash on hand, I'd buy some more stuff from him 😀

Actually, I've had good experiences the Fedex Int'l (not Fedex ground), lousy experiences with UPS and even the postal service will ding me for taxes and a small brokerage fee depending on the item. My diafine was shipped via USPS, and I had to pay taxes & brokerage, same with my scanner and a filter but I've also had many items go tax-free.

I purchased an R3A camera, 40mm lens and hood from Camera Quest. It came to Victoria in a week via US abd Can Postal service. It was in a relatively small and inconspicuous box and no taxes were charged. Cetainly the best shipping sevice I have had.
BTW, I second the negative comments about UPS and find other courier services not much better.

Excellent 🙂

I have more cash on hand .... single, low mortgage, and almost no revolving credit debt.... all of that adds up to "want to get more gear NOW!!!" 😉

I think I'll be emailing him tomorrow for a few small items 🙂

Thanks
Dave

I purchased my Bessa R with the CV35/2.5 combo during one of his "free shipping" promotions. The order was faxed (using his on-line form).

As I recall, the shipping cost (postal stamp) was less than $9.00US. The green declaration said "Camera parts" with a value of $40. The goods arrived in about a week. No taxes, no duties and no hassels.

Mr. Gandy is great to deal with.

Regards to all,

Bill K. (in Toronto)

Got one more question:
What is the RIGHT email address for him?
I sent something to his cameraquest.com address but then I noted there's an earthlink.net address too.. and a number of them at that.

I'm a bit confused and hope I don't double up on my order.

cheers
Dave
