Just a little note:

I saw that Cameraquest is a new sponsor.

Though I live far away in germany I ordered some lenses from Stephen Gandy. The service, prices and handling was superb. I can really recommend Cameraquest.

:D ... no, I dont get money for this :D

I am also a satisfied customer of Stephen. I recommend his service without any reservation!

he sure is quick to answer his emails, i like that.
i just put in my first order, a small one, a couple of the mini soft releases.

I've bought stuff from Stephen several times and he's quick to respond and quick to ship. I like dealing with him.

Same here, my CV 21mm/4 showed up today. That was quick processing and postage, even to my dark side of the planet.

Stu :)

I have to praise Stephen too. I took advantage of the free shipping offer and bought a CV 25/4 lens. Took only 3days to reach the UK. Excellent service!

I ordered a Bessa L off of him, except I think ill be waiting a while. Ive not seen something come to me from OS in 3 days. A week and a bit max :)

Warranty issues?

Warranty issues?

You living in Europe, but buying from Cameraquest in the US, how will you handle warranty issues?

I was thinking that it’s better to buy from Robert White in the UK for warranty reasons, but I might be wrong. Maybe it’s the same hassle if the Bessa goes bad.

What do you all think?

I'm in Europe (the UK) and bought a VC II meter from Stephen. one reason I chose to buy from him was simply because his site has been such a great resource for me. The VC II arrived in about three days. It didn't have instructions with it - this was because it had only been out a month or so and English instructions hadn't been printed. He promised to send Enlgish instructions as soon as they were available, and did so exactly as he promised. Hence I think he will honour the warranty well if you're in Europe. One good (or perhaps bad, depending on your POV) thing is he accepts PayPal, without a surcharge. This means it's very tempting to spend your ill-gotten eBay gains with him!

I've bought a number of items from Stephen Gandy. Very fine person to deal with, and answers emails promptly. (Try that with some other dealers).

Well I spoke too soon. Got my Bessa L this morning! I was like a little child opening the box to see what was inside :) Was damn quick, never had something delivered from OS that quick before :)

Seeing that I bought all of my Bessa gear from CQ at such a low price compared to the prices here in Holland (we're talking literally hundreds of euros less, even for the Bessa L!) I think I can afford to send my camera to Stephen for repair if it ever comes to that. My gear is by now probably out of warranty so for me the whole issue is a no-brainer anyway.

Sending your gear to the UK is hardly less expensive than sending it to the US, and takes almost just as long. So, if your gear is still in warranty I'd send it to CQ for repair. If, however, your gear is out of warranty I'd send it to the repair place which offers the best service for the best price. That could be DAG, or Sherry, or Stephen, or Robert, or any other of the US/ UK/ European repair shops.
