Its one reason I have so many Barnacks...... they just tickle me.... I must say though that my M2 feels almost as distinctive.

Minolta SRT101 - Wow, the feeling of grabbing a shot with the SRT101 is amazing. For example, shooting with my Nikon FM2 is like shooting with any modern digital camera, its like a dead weight in your hand. No emotions and no feeling of gratitude after you´ve taken a shot. I love the Minolta Srt101.

Soul is personal. My FM seemed to have much more soul than my friend's SRT-101 to me, and he felt the opposite.

I agree about the barnacks. I shoot with mine every so often and as a user of glasses i hate focussing and composing as it isnt the fastest, but for those brighter days where you can zone focus the feeling of releasing the shutter feels so satisfying. Almost feels like an animal trap or something trapping the image on to my film. Best feeling.

Of all the cameras I used to own, the one that had the most character/personality was the Vitessa L. Of the cameras I have now, it has to be the Vito B. And I have owned a lot of cameras, from 16mm "spies" to 4x5 Graflex. Just something about those little Voigtlanders that said "I may be small, but I can get the job done".

My Olympus OM-2s. The shutter has a clunky sound compared to the OM-1, but I like it. For motorcycles, my Yamaha SRX600. A 600cc, single cylinder, four stroke with kick start only. I once kicked it 75+ times in the summer heat. Then I discovered the trick to single kick starts."Soul" is infectious. Cameras catch it from their owner(s). Same with motorcycles, musical instruments, Land Rovers...

I used to have six or seven. Over the years I've sold off all but my favorite black Rollei 35S. Just had it serviced as the slow shutter speeds were gummed up. Now works as smooth and clean as when I bought it 20-some years ago.

While I don't like rangefinders at all that Fuji G690BL calls me. I can't pass it or I have to pick it up just to have it in my hands. But I rather think it is possesed than it having a soul.
My old Praktica MTL3 is like an old friend. Always ready to go out. The C330 feels like a camera that knows better than I what to do. Makes me feel incompetent to handle it. (I probably am...) And the Kiev 60 has a feeling of understatement.
They all have something but those 4 are strongest.

Pentax SV - got a beater a while ago, because I wanted the lens that was attached to it: to my surprise the SV just keeps begging to be used.
Rank Mamiya - like a playful terrier.
I will also second Rollei 35 and Yashica D

My Barnak and the Minolta XD-7 for sure. The Canon EOS 5 and the Minolta 9xi could also qualify..
