Hi, I have a Zeiss Super Ikonta, the 533/16 with the 2.8 Tessar, that has been left with the shutter cocked for quite a while (at least a year).

It's an heirloom of sorts and so I'd like to be able to use it. The camera is in otherwise good condition.

Question is; who would be best to have a look at it?

Thanks,

Benjamin

Google 'Bill Orford'.

A cocked shutter shouldn't have much adverse effect, though, so if that's all that's worrying you and the camera appears to work, go out and take some pictures.

Cheers,

R.

You might also consider Will van Manen in the Netherlands.

My experience with him is very good. He CLA'd my M2 and fixed a sticky diaphragm on a Nikon lens as well as a broken shutter on an EM.

I have met him personally and seen his workshop. He works on verything from Nikon, Hassy, Rollei, Contax to Leica. Contact him by mail to get a quote.

Thank you for the recommedations. I forgot to mention that the mechanism seems to have locked stiff I.e, it won't fire..

The condition cosmetically is good, and the bellows had been replaced three or four years ago I believe. To my mind it seems that it may just need a CLA. I just don't want to send it to a cowboy.

Thanks again,

Benjamin

Cameratix in Edinburgh are highly competent- fix up Hass's and RF's to a high standard.
You can find them via google. Reasonable price and usually quick turn-around.

I would recommend is Ed Trzozka(?spelling) of Euro Photographic Services in Leicester Tel: 0116 2674247; 150 Harrowgate Dv, Birstall, Leicester LE4 3GP.
Ed specialises in Zeiss folders and sold me a serviced ZI Super Ikonta 533/16 a couple of years ago. He attends the Wolverhampton Camera Fair.
