Hi, forgive my ignorance if it's a really silly question...
but is it possible to mount a lecina lens on a IIIC as a wide angle?

Do you mean the Super 8 Leicina? Because I just read a book about Super 8 filmaking that stated that they use M mount lenses, which would mean no. I also recall that it mentions that you could use screw mount lenses on Leicinas.

depends on the lens' image circle (is that the right term in english?)
if the lens is able to project a picture that extends to the corners to the 35mm format frame (24x36 mm²), then adapting it to the leica camera can be attempted.
if the imace is too small (and for specific super 8 lenses it will be), then better forget about it.
similar to the question whether you can use DX lenses on a 35mm format camera (i.e., nikon).
cheers,
sebastian

Camera lenses could be put on Leicina with an adapter. The reverse is not possible as the lens sits too close the the film and the image circle is too small.
