Hello,
I'm about to send some photographs in a local Street photography competition, but defining 'Street' can be tricky. They have sad: the photographs froum urban/rural sorroundings, but theat's not very specified. So I'm posting here some photographs and if you can help to categorize them wheter they are street or no, would be nice (especially the first 2 photographs).

Thank you!

Also, they have sad that the photographs can be Portraits and Conceptual (this might include 'scened' or 'set-up' photographs as well), so might these also fill in Stree too?

Just send it, if it was you might get the prize if it was not you won't.

Street photography is like jazz, you simply can't pin it down into a definition.

If you ask ten people to define street photography, you will get ten different answers. Street Photography (in capitals 🙂 ) in the vein of Henri Cartier Bresson, Helen Levitt, Joel Meyerowitz, etc, etc, etc has a very specific feel/aesthetic/philosophy that at the same time is extremely hard to define. Based on the very vague "photographs froum urban/rural sorroundings" description they gave you, it doesn't sound like they are asking for Street Photography. I agree with ebino, just send them in.

A similar argument is raging on the Street Photography Now Project Flickr group. Luckily, none of the photos you have posted were taken in people's houses or gardens. Not sure if I would count them as street photography.

I'd certainly class your images as "street photography" as it is such a wide and vague term. Good luck with the competition!

I know that they are not Typical street photographs, that's why I have photographed them in first place.

Since the competitions says - urban / rural place, portraits and conceptual photographs, I think these might pass since on them it all about the people, their movement, connection, sorrounding, scene..

I'd say the last one is but the others are closer to landscape than they are to street. I suppose you don't lose anything by submitting them...
