Can you help identify lens problem

Just got a 28mm m. Seems to be a lens problem.
Can anyone help identify this (lens separation, lens cement, fungus etc.) ???

I had a Nokton do this: the blacking on the lens element had separated. In its case, the paint flaked off and fell into the lens. Try with film. Maybe increase internal reflections slightly. It does not look like fungus or something else that will destry the coatings.

Looking at the pictures, that is my "closest" to it.

It appears that the matte black paint use for a light baffle has flaked off. If you can't
see any of this on optical surfaces, there should be minimal to no effect.

Wow ... it does'nt take long to get a response on this forum ... thanks to all.
These opaque milky looking marks are on the glass below the front element.
It almost looks like a glue squeezed out from mount onto the glass, but I can not
imagine it would have been allowed to leave the factory like this? I hope to take some shots with this newly received lens this weekend to see what effect if any is noteiceable
on photos. My concern is that whatever this is gets worse with time and renders the lens unuseable and unsellable/tradable in the future. i would be much happier with a lens that did not have this issue.

Yes, it looks like the front lens element has separated. That "stuff" might be glue from the previous owner trying to fix it so as to sell it. 😎

If it is flaking paint, you should not only see the flakes on the lens surface but you should be able to move them around by smacking (gently) the lens in the palm of your hand. I had a summicron with this problem. It's an easy repair. If that is the problem, it's worth getting fixed as the exposed edges of the glass can be flare spots.

I have a Nikon 35 f/1.4 AIS (SLR) lens that seems to match up with what you've got there (it was like that when I bought it from KEH). I took it to a local camera dealer to look at it and one of the "old vets" told me that it was probably some glue that had begun to separate from the internals. I'm sorry that I can't recall the specifics, but he finished up by saying that it wouldn't be anything I'd have to worry about in my lifetime. If you're really concerned about it, take the lens to a local camera dealer (or two) and have them look at it.

The 2.8 Xenotar in my Rollei 2.8D has been like that since I've owned it and that's been almost twenty years. There's been no change in that time and it has no effect on the image. My lens has this all the way around one element. I had a 40mm distagon for my Hasselblad that the internal paint flaked off the barrell but this doesn't apppear to be that. I've also seen the paint flaking in the 38mm biogon of SWC's.
