I'm thinking of getting a SLR, and would like to go back to using a Nikon N6006 w/ an adapter on a Leica R lens. That's been a fine setup for me in the past. The one thing I'm not sure about is if this will work w/ the older 1 cam lenses, which generally are a little cheaper. I had an original Leicaflex Standard w/ an R 50 Summicron for a while and noticed that it wasn't capable of stop down metering, as it had that external mounted meter. I saw that when you changed the aperture settings w/ the lens on the camera it didn't change the aperture itself. That only happened when you pressed the shutter button, and then the lens would stop down right before the shutter fired, then open back up for open aperture focusing. I stupidly forgot to ck whether the lens changed apertures when it wasn't on the camera, and sold the setup.

Does anyone know if you can use the earlier R 1 cam lenses w/ an adapter on a SLR? Thanks.

Yes you can

Hi there,
I just noticed your question.

I do have a Leicaflex with 50/2 Summicron (1 cam) too. I haven't used it though, so I don't know the possible metering issues.

I use the lens, with an adaptor, on a Canon DSLR. Fun thing to do!

Kind regards,
Filip

Folks today have the lens mount changed to Nikon eliminating the adapter. I don't know about cams and metering. GOOGLE Leitax. Ask them.
