Hi there,
I was wondering if there are any lenses that the R-D1s is incompatible with. I just tried to mount my 50mm summicron v3 on it, but I cannot focus further than 0.9m. Is this inherent in all R-D1's, or did I just pick up a defective one?

The R-D1 manual lists a few lenses that cannot be used (according to Epson). I don't remember them all, but I think at least the 15mm Hologon and the 21/3.4 Super Angulon are on the list, as well as the DR Summicron. I have however heard that some users have succesfully used the DR Summicron without damaging the lens or the camera.

A while back Rich Cutler, one of RFF's members, began collecting all of the information contained within RFF (and other sites) about the RD1. His distillation of this info, along with his own observations and investigations, were put into a web site. Those resources are now hosted by the Camera Quest. There is a link on RFF's first RD1 page. When I looked on the troublesome lens page (LINK) I saw no reference to Summicron V3's causing any problem.
