Using CS2, I select the photo, make the long size 125 and save as under 10kb... try to save it on RFF as the avatar and it rejects it everytime! Says the file is too large at 25kb.
What the heck is going on?

I've had nothing but frustration at this as well Dave. Back Alley was kind enough to upload for me when he was still a mod.

Are you saving it as a web Jpg?

I've had best results converting jpeg image to gif format. RFF seems to accept this for an avatar, as it is lower resolution. But then, I have no idea what I am doing!

Just changed my avatar, no issues, much larger file than 25.
Could be the version of PS you are using Dave?

Saved to a gif as Keith suggested and it worked...Thanks for the solution. Just wish I knew what the jpg issue is/was.

Since I only have version 5 of PS, hard to know (or test), but my guess is some incompatibility there with your version.

Thanks, incompatibility somewhere.
But my 2002 Dell is on life support anyway with no way to replace it. Mozilla just died today so my email is gone.
I give up.

My old Dell is still chugging along, (knock on wood) running Windows XP. I switched over to Firefox from IE whatever it was. & it works out for me. It does have some kinks but I live with it. It beats looking at RFF with an iphone. Thanks, incompatibility somewhere.
