I just wanted to ask if anybody knows the earliest recorded serial number for a Canon S-II Seiki Kogaku? Also does anybody have any links for more of Canon's history apart from Canon's Camera Museum website and Peter's book? I
I'm just new to the Canon Rangefinder game and it is addictive! I only planned to buy one Canon RF! I was lucky to score a original Canon 1960 Wholesale Pricelist/Catalogue, in the original Canon Binder for the Australian Importer from my Canon Rep. He saved it from being thrown in the bin! I new to this forum, so be kind to me!

Go to Peter Kitchingman's site: http://www.canonrangefinder.com/ . He's compiling a serial number information on all aspects of Canon rangefinders, both bodies and lenses. As a Canon 2B owner and collector I have always found him to be very knowledgeable.
Peter Dechert's book is the bible of Canon rangefinder cameras.

Randal Hooper's early 1990's Canon rangefinder series in the LHSA quarterly publication "Viewfinder" contains information on Canon rangefinder lenses that appears nowhere else, specifically production dates and production numbers. Definitely a worthwhile read.
