Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
I like what I'm seeing. I already have the adapter to M and on the way is a nice M3 from a fellow RFFr. I'm excited to try this lens. Btw, where can I get a hood for this lens?

This is getting crazy I'm at $50 already and a few more days to go before bid ends. Anyway, I'm gonna sink with that hood no matter what.

The hoods are not really common items afaik. Not exactly rare, but not common and not particularly cheap. Part of the problem is that the item is posted on a public forum and hence a lot of people's attention is drawn to it. I would not be surprised at all to see that item go for well above the BIN price of the other (posted in another thread in the Leica M subforum).

Unless you just want an original Canon hood, 48mm is not that uncommon.

The Canon hood is nice, but if you can find a vented Walz hood- nicer.

I bid on the lens hood why is it everytime I bid I am outbidded? I am now at $ 38 so far the highest bidder. How much do you think should be my max for this item? Thanks.

I think you can get it for less that what it's at now. The cap that comes with it might be attracting more attention than usual. But it's not part of the original setup. Very likely to be one of the caps for the FD or FL lenses.

Cheers,

I want to let it go but no one is bidding higher/ My current bid is $46 minimum and $50 max. Anyway, that will be my last bid if I win then I have no choice but to get it. I also got a step up 48 to 52 and a generic metal screw in hood just now . It might work and looks kinda nice as well. i just hope it won't vignette.

Quick shots of the hood it's simple, cheap and looks ok to me.

I used a 48-52 adapter and a generic metal screw in hood. Btw, someone bid higher than me for the S-50 in the bay giving me an opportunity to stop.

I paid under $20, might have been under $10, for that hood from a big photo dealer in England, on Ebay. I think it's expensive because Jiri-e is a specialty dealer, although he seems to be about as good a seller as you could want.

The thing is you don't really need it. The lens is not prone to flare, at least in my experience. Look at a diagram of the lens elements, it's mostly just one huge chunk of glass. It's the one lens I rarely use a hood with.

I picked up an S-50 hood for $40 off Kevin Cameras, these are rare puppies. I saw a recent Ebay auction go to the mid to high $50 range before shipping.

I have to agree - both about how good jiri_e is and that the 1.4 is relatively flare free, at least in my experience. I wouldn't shoot into the sun of course, but otherwise, no problems.
