Canon LTM Canon 100mm f/3.5 LTM lens Hood & Cap size?

How do you do?

I received Canon 100mm F/3.5 lens yesterday from evil bay.
It is a really small and light one !!

The lens I bought has no front cap and hood.
What size front cap & hood(screw type) can I use ?

You can use any of the Leica A36 caps in metal or bakelite. These are the type commonly found on the Elmar 5cm f/3.5. They can be had for much cheaper than the Canon 36mm caps.

As for hoods, this lens uses a dedicated hood screwed on to an adaptor that goes on your lens. If it's a screw on adaptor, it fits the 34mm filter thread of your lens and you use Series VI filter in between the adaptor and the hood. If it's a clamp on adaptor, it has a 36mm size camp. You can use both 34mm screw in filter or Series VI filters.

This one has the screw on hood. Take note that this should come with a screw in cap for the back of the hood to protect the lens when it's reversed capped.

This is the clamp on version.

There's also a quite rare Canon cap that has female 34mm threads, that you can put on the rear of the lens hood when it is stored reversed on the lens.

The equivalent Canon reverse cap is much more common in the 48mm size for the 85mm and 135mm lenses.

Yes John, you're right.

That's the one behind the hood on the first picture. It usually comes as a set with the hood when it was sold. But being so small. Many photographers tend to lose it.

The 34mm filters and 36mm hoods fit the chrome and black versions of this lens. The later all black version uses 40mm filters and 42mm clamp-on hoods

Of course, in terms of practical and easy to find, there's the Leica FIKUS. Set it at 100mm, and you'll have more flare protection than the Canon hood, which is really rather short.

Indeed, the Canon 100/3.5 hood is almost identical in size to the Canon 50/3.5 hood! My 100/3.5 lens came with the latter hood, took a while to find the right hood and rear cap. I finally bought a Canon 50/3.5 lens to go with the 50/3.5 hood.

I want to buy canon 100/3.5 hood or Leica FIKUS, but these ate hard to find or expensive to me.

That lens hood should work just fine. I used to have a similar one for my black and chrome 100/3.5. Happy shooting!

Congrats on your new "baby". I use a generic, Japanese 40mm cap and Canon T-42-2 clamp-on hood on my all-black version. Are you taking any images of the Seoul Hi-fest events?
