Canon 1N prices...

...what has happened to them? I saw one going off the bay for 112€*including power winder, strap, manual and two batteries in good condition :bang:

That is a hell of a camera and is priced like some mid 70s Praktica SLR's (which are by any means good cams, but in no way compareable to a 1N!).

So if you people are planning to get one of the best 35mm SLRs ever build, get a 1N now 😀 - it won't get any cheaper I guess.

But what's the reason for the low prices? Has it fallen into a niche, it's a pro film SLR (and most people use digital SLRs professionaly) and not really a collectible camera, like a M Leica e.g.

I think older film cameras are more sought after now because they feel very different from a DSLR, and offer a different experience. The last wave of film SLRs is quite similar in concept and design to present-day cameras.

Are you referring to the Canon F1n? That's how we called it here in the good ol' USA. I've got a couple, and am also shocked at how cheap they are, considering they are indestructible. But, on the down side, they are loud and heavy to carry around...and they look enough like digital cameras to keep admiring glances from passers-by to a minimum (maybe a good thing? I admit to enjoying the amazed "is that a film camera?" remarks I get with my M.)

Sometimes there is no rhythm or rime on camera prices. You can get four Minolta's Dynax 9xi for the price of one Yashica T4. IMHO the prices do not reflect the camera's quality (although some do), it's more the law of demand and supply that dictates the prices. As it's already been said, people will go for the EOS-1V which means that the prices of the EOS-1N will drop in order to sell.

Yes I think if you are into Canon's then it has to be the 1v and that probably accounts for the pricing. 1v's still command decent money.

If you can find a 1V, get it. I could not afford it when I wanted it, but still have my 1n with the drive booster. They were great cameras and I would put them up against the 5D mk II any day.

whats sick is Canon is still selling the the 1V for 1700 bucks... and what is sicker is the Nikon F6 is $2500

I really like my 1n, and I got it for a measly 100$ in user condition. It's been super reliable, it's ergonomics are superb (much better than my 5d), it's weather sealed and tough, the VF is huge (bigger/brighter than 5d) and the autofocus despite being only 5 point is super fast and accurate.

I'd love a 1v but as a second body to my 5d the 1n is seriously great. And so cheap!

IMO it's just a shame, how such an instrument can become almost worthless - just like HD DVDs or what ever they were called.

Thought about selling mine twice, but I'll keep it, i's far to good to be sold for 100$
