Canon 28mm f2.8 Should it stay or go.

I've got a lovely copy of this lens; the so called 'Winogrand' optics. The problem: it's a bit too wide for my liking, even on the M8, but I'm not sure whether to sell it or keep it. Is it as rare as touted?

I don't suffer from GAS, but I do wonder if I should keep hold of this lens if only for its cult value.

In reality, I think I want a 35mm f2 Summicron as that would put me nearer 50mm.

Decisions, decisions - anyone offer their wisdom?

"Very Good for a Vintage wide angle lens" That is what I copied from the net. The optimum word is vintage. The 35mm Summicron is certainly a better lens. & what what you say you really want one. Oh, the price is listed at $250 about a quater to a fifth of a 35mm Summicron pre-Asph. If, it were me making the decision of which glass to put on an M-8 I'd go with the Summicron.

I think that the 28mm focal length has inherent drama, and it can take a while to get a feel for that drama, it did for me. But, now I really love it. Winogrand is an inspiration for how it can be used. I enjoy, with all that depth of field, that you don't have to fuss a lot with focusing. I don't want to be a collector myself, so I get rid of lenses I don't use. All the best!
